Special Constable Service

Laurier's Special Constable Service has adopted the Neighbourhood Policing model to improve visibility, response and safety. Our special constables are assigned to a neighbourhood for a period of two years. This will allow our members to form partnerships with students, staff and faculty. It is very important that we have excellent customer service from our members. The Special Constable Service is concerned with the safety of students, staff, faculty and visitors at Wilfrid Laurier University.

The first contact that staff, students, faculty or visitors have is with our student dispatchers. This position is very important and the first impression that you make with a complainant or victim will always be remembered. The student dispatcher is also the direct line of communication with the special constables out in the field. Students who are interested in this position must be able to multi-task and have excellent communication skills.
