Undergraduate Indigenous Student Policy

Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous will be given consideration for admission to Laurier programs if they fall within 5% of the established cut-off during each phase of the admissions cycle to a minimum of 70%. To be considered within the 5% window, applicants must complete the Indigenous Identity Verification Process through the Indigenous Office. Students admitted using this policy will be expected to maintain the minimum final average set for the program into which they have been admitted.

Once final grades have been received, Indigenous applicants who fall below the minimum final grade requirement of 70% will be considered for admission on an individual basis pending space availability. Applicants who already hold an Offer of Admission and who do not meet the minimum final requirement (including those who fall below 70%) will also be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Faculty to which they have been admitted.

Students who are admitted under this policy will be encouraged to seek academic and transition support through the Indigenous Student Centre.

This policy does not apply to the Faculty of Education, which has a separate policy addressing Indigenous admissions.

This policy also applies to undergraduate Indigenous transfer applicants from external post-secondary institutions.
