Undergraduate Admissions Policy for Self-Declared Aboriginal Applicants
Applicants
who self-declare as Aboriginal will be given consideration for admission to
Laurier programs if they fall within 5% of the established cut-off during each
phase of the admissions cycle to a minimum of 70%. To be considered within the
5% window, applicants must provide a written statement outlining any work
experience, achievements, educational goals and why they believe they will be
successful at post-secondary studies. Students admitted under this policy will
be expected to maintain the minimum final average set for the program into
which they have been admitted.
Once final grades have been received from the
OUAC, Aboriginal applicants who fall below the minimum final grade requirement
of 70% will be considered for admission on an individual basis pending space
availability. Applicants who already hold an Offer of Admission and who do not
meet the minimum final requirement of 70% will also be considered on a case-by-case
basis in consultation with the Faculty to which they have been admitted.
Students who are admitted under this policy as described in #2 will be required to complete University 101 and University 102 as a condition of their acceptance to the university.
This policy does not apply to the Faculty of
Education, which has a separate policy addressing Aboriginal admissions.
