The John Aird Centre was officially opened in November of 1988 and extensive renovations to the entire building completed in September 2009.The Aird Centre acts as home to the Faculty of Music and its facilities include the Maureen Forrester Recital Hall, the Robert Langen Art Gallery, an electronic music studio, three rehearsal halls, eight Faculty of Music classrooms, Music Therapy clinics, and over forty practice rooms.

The Maureen Forrester Recital Hall has a seating capacity of 327, and acts as the main performance space for the Faculty of Music. It is also available for use by community and international organizations such as Numus, the Kiwanis Festival, and the National Youth Orchestra, and is an ideal location for audition and professional recordings by music students, faculty and guest artists.

The Theatre Auditorium is a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 849 and provides facilities for University events such as student assemblies, dramatic productions, concerts, operas, public lectures and social events. It is also used by local dance studios for end of year performances and a wide variety of summer conferences.
