Laurier Brantford Wellness Centre is a multidisciplinary centre serving students, with limited services for Faculty and staff. Emotional and mental health needs are addressed using a circle of care model. Professional services include family physicians, Psychiatrist, Obstetrician/Gynecologist , registered nurses, social workers (counsellors, student support coordinator), a mental health nurse, massage therapists, and a chiropractor.
Services provided include variety of health care services including physical exams, acute and chronic illness and follow-up, sexual health care and dispensing (including emergency contraception), immunizations, and specialist referrals. Mental health services include assessment, diagnosis and treatment, including short-term, goal-directed counselling and crisis intervention and crisis management. We also facilitate community referrals for students requiring specialized or long-term treatment.
Booked appointments are recommended, but there are limited walk-in appointments available daily for urgent concerns. All visits are confidential.
Visits are covered through your provincial health plan or UHIP insurance; this card is required at every visit. 24 hour notice is required for cancellation, or a fee will apply.
The PEER EDUCATION Program is also facilitated through the Wellness Centre (4th year Health Studies and 5th year Concurrent Education program students) to assist in promoting the health and wellness education annual fairs workshop.
