Municipal Reporting: Telling Stories about Cities
This course explores the practical journalistic navigation of City Hall, including municipal politics, administration and service delivery, as well as ancillary public systems such as education, health, police and fire. Students will attend local sessions of municipal meetings and explore practical and theoretical considerations affecting the coverage of these structures for news. Critical perspectives on urban infrastructure, organization and development will also be studied.
