Graduate Diploma in Accounting Analytics

The Graduate Diploma in Accounting Analytics is designed to develop leaders with skills in data analytics for developing business intelligence in a rapidly changing and complex global environment. The program will advance knowledge and practices in the fields of financial and management accounting, auditing, tax and earnings management by using case-based approaches with large data sets. A focus on learning analytics tools and applying them to data sets in a case-based environment to solve accounting-related problems will promote collaboration, collegiality, respectful relationships, and openness to change.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have either a Chartered Professional Accounting designation, or an undergraduate degree in accounting, or an undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in accounting (in this situation, applicants will be required to have completed the courses that CPA Ontario would require for entry into their Professional Education Program). Applicants must have at least one course in both calculus and statistics with a grade of at least B+ in each course. A minimum overall GPA of B+ in the final two years of the undergraduate program is required. The application must be accompanied by official transcripts and two reference letters (including one academic reference).

Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential to graduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. Applicants whose first language is not English and who have not completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution where English is the language of instruction are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. 

 
Program Requirements

This part-time program is completed in two consecutive terms, beginning in the fall term. Students take two courses each term. Additionally, students complete a collaborative group project as part of the course requirements for BU577 and BU587. This project will enable students to integrate and synthesize all that they have learned in the program and present it to their peers and instructors at the end of the term.

Fall term: BU565 - Organizational Data Management, BU665 - Advanced Business Analytics
