Honours Bachelor of Social Work: Four-Year Program
The Honours Bachelor of Social Work program
consists of 20.0 credits, of which not more than 7.0
credits may be at the 100 level.
Students must successfully complete 13.5 credits of
required classes that include all Social Work courses
(11.5 credits), 1.0 credit in Indigenous Studies, plus an additional 1.0 credit
of required co-curricular courses. An additional 6.5 credits of courses will be chosen as electives. All
courses should be completed as per the four-
year program structure.
Required Social Work Courses: (10.0 credits)
SK111, SK121, SK210, SK211, SK212, SK221, SK223, SK224, SK311, SK313, SK314,
SK315, SK320, SK321, SK399‡ (1.5 credits), and
SK499‡ (1.5 credits).
Required Additional 400 level SK Courses:
1.5 credits of Social Work (SK) courses at the 400 level
Required Indigenous Studies courses:
1.0 credit: ID120, any senior ID

- Not all 400 level SK courses will be offered every term.
- Students may request to complete SK399‡ & SK499‡ placement courses in the Spring term; course codes to register are approved by the BSW program administrator upon approval.
- Majors, Minors and Options: No other majors can be combined with the BSW. Minors and options are permitted.

BSW students who do not meet Bachelor of Social Work GPA graduation requirements would be eligible to graduate from a Laurier Brantford faculty with a General BA without designation.
Progression is assessed at every 4.0 credit attempts. To progress, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 7.0 in all Social Work (SK) courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 in all non-Social Work courses. Graduation requires a minimum GPA of 7.0 in all Social Work (SK) courses, and a minimum GPA of 5.0 in all non-Social Work courses.
Before progression to Field Placement (SK399‡), all required pre-field placement Year 3 Social Work courses (SK313, SK314, SK315) must be completed with a minimum grade of 7.0 (B-) in each course.
Students must successfully pass SK399‡ - Field 1 (360 hrs in 12 wks) in order to progress to SK499‡.
Course repeats may not exceed a maximum of 2.0 credits for the duration of the program (including Year 1).
