Certificate in Digital Media Skills I
The Digital Media Skills I Certificate offers students the opportunity to complement academic study in their home discipline with a set of contemporary digital media skills that can be used in communications, marketing, and/or community engagement work. These skills include explaining and demonstrating the fundamental principles and best practices related to capturing, editing, and distributing audio, video, and digital images; creating a range of short, research-based digital projects; and delivering a professional, engaging on- air vocal performance.
The certificate consists of 2.0 credits and is to be completed concurrently with students’ degree program(s).
Required Courses: 2.0 credits (courses are 0.5 credits each)
DMJN101 - Reporting and Writing for News
DMJN230 - Audio Storytelling I
DMJN231 - Videography I
DMJN232 - Photography and Digital Imaging I
- Students in the Honours Digital Media and Journalism Program are ineligible from completing this certificate.
- All 2.0 credits counted towards the Certificate must be taken at Wilfrid Laurier University
- A minimum GPA of 4.0 in all courses taken in the program in order to satisfy certificate completion.
