Combined Honours BA English and Film Studies with Vancouver Film School Diploma Program
Laurier has a partnership agreement through which Laurier students can complete, in 20.0 credits, the Combined Honours BA in English and Film Studies at Laurier and VFS’s Diploma Program in Writing for Film, Television, and Games. Laurier students attend Year 1 and Year 2 at Laurier, Year 3 at VFS, and Year 4 at Laurier.
The Combined Honours English and Film Studies program consists of 20.0 credits, of which 15.0 credits are completed at Laurier and 5.0 can be completed at VFS on a letter of permission from Laurier.
Laurier Credits (15.0 credits):
The Combined Honours English and Film Studies program consists of 20.0 credits, of which at least 14.0 credits must be at the senior level with at least 7.0 credits in EN courses and 7.0 in FS courses as follows, as well as an additional 1.0 credit in non-major electives:

Note: Of the required 7.0 credits in English, no more than 1.0 may be at the 100 level. Students are encouraged to take EN245 and EN246 as part of their program. Students may also count up to 1.0 credit from non-designated writing courses (EN206, EN304) toward the 7.0 required for the Combined Honours English degree. Pathway students are not eligible to do the English program’s Concentration in Creative Writing, Minor in Writing for Career and Community, or Minor in Youth and Children: Texts and Contexts.

VFS Credits (5.0 credits):
VFS’s Writing for Film, Television, and Games program counts as 5.0 credits towards the 20.0 credits of Laurier’s Combined Honours English and Film Studies program as:
- 1.0 credit from English 200- or 300-level (senior) courses
- 0.5 credit from Film Studies 200- or 300-level (senior) courses
- 0.5 credit equivalent to FS374 - Screenwriting and Directing
- 3.0 credits from non-major 200- or 300-level (senior) electives
- Students attending VFS in Year 3 must have maintained a minimum overall GPA of 5.0 as well as a minimum GPA of 5.0 in English & Film Studies.
- Students attending VFS in Year 3 must have completed a minimum of 10.0 credits overall, with a minimum of 1.5 credits in English and 1.5 credits in Film Studies.
