Judaism Minor

This minor provides students with a supplemental course of study focusing on historical, philosophical, secular, and religious development of Jewish thought and traditions. It attracts students from diverse faculties who engage critically in the study of history, philosophy, education, global citizenship, and social sciences. The minor's core courses encourage firsthand interaction with the original works of Jewish tradition and thought, as well as with analysis of philosophical and historical environments whereby their significance is established and/or further developed.

The minor requires the student take 3.0 credits: 1.0 credit can be applied to the minor from their home department; 1.0 credit in required courses; 1.0 credit from a selection of electives.

  1. Credits from Home Program (1.0 Credit): Students can use 1.0 credit from their program in consultation with their home department and Martin Luther University College.
  2. Required 0.5 Credits (1.0 Credit):
    GC205 (0.5), GC270 (0.5)
    Students who have a foundational background in Jewish education may test out of this class and receive a free elective from Judaism courses listed below. (current course with new code/title)

  3. Electives (1.0 Credit):
    Students choose 1.0 credit from the following courses (all are 0.5 credit):
    GC272, GC275, GC372, GC374, GC378.
