Honours BA Youth & Children's Studies

The Youth & Children's Studies program consists of 20.0 credits, including no more than 7.0 at the 100 level. The program must include a minimum of 10.5 credits in approved courses, including at least 9.0 senior credits.

All students in the program must complete successfully the Foundations curriculum: BF190, BF199, BF290, BF299.

YC100 - Studying Youth and Children: An Introduction
YC200 - Youth and Children Through the Ages
YC300 - Youth & Children's Studies Community Service Learning
YC400 - Senior Seminar in Youth & Children’s Studies
PS100* or both PS101 and PS102
PS275 - Developmental Psychology I: Infancy and Childhood
PS276 - Developmental Psychology II: Adolescence and Young Adulthood

Other Requirements: 6.5 credits
Students must complete 2.0 credits in Categories A and B, and 1.0 credit in Category C. An additional 1.5 senior credits must be completed in any Category.
Of the 6.5 credits, 1.0 credit must be at the 300 level and 0.5 credit at the 400 level.

  2. Students in the Youth & Children's Studies program are excluded from completing the Children's Education & Development Option.
  3. Students in the Concurrent Education program are excluded from completing the Contemporary Studies, or the Society, Culture & Environment Honours BA in combination with an Honours BA in Youth & Children's Studies.
