MWI Audio Production and Engineering Diploma Graduates — Laurier BMus(SDS) Program Structure

Laurier has a partnership agreement through which MWI Audio Production and Engineering Diploma graduates, having earned at least a 75% average overall, can complete the Honours BMus in Self-Directed Studies in an additional 3 years of study at Laurier. MWI graduates earn admission to the BMus program through the normal selection procedures for Laurier’s Faculty of Music. Graduates of MWI who audition exceptionally well may be placed at the 200-level applied study upon entry at the discretion of the audition panel.

Graduates of MWI Audio Production and Engineering Diploma, who meet all other admission requirements to Laurier’s Faculty of Music, may transfer 5.0 credits toward a Laurier Music degree as follows:

  • 1.0 200-level general Music credits in (Culture and Society) (BUS1000T, BUS1100T, BUS1030T, MUS3010T),
  • 0.5 200-level general Music credits (Style and Structure) (MUS3070T, MUS3110T),
  • 3.0 credits (1.0 200-level general Music credits and 2.0 300- level general Music credits) (Production and Performance) (AUD2000T, AUD2150P, AUD2020T, AUD2120P, AUD2030T, AUD2170T, AUD2180T, AUD2190P, AUD2110P), and
  • 0.5 200-level general non-music (UU) credits (AUD2010T, AUD2040T)

    To earn a BMus degree in Self-Directed Studies, MWI graduates shall complete at least 15.0 credits while at Laurier, of which at least 10.0 and no more than 12.0 may be MU courses, including the following courses:

  • MU100, MU136°, MU137°, MU162, MU181, MU190A*, MU266
  • At least 1.0 credit of applied study (x90A or x96 courses) at the 200-level or above
  • At least 1.0 additional credits from the category of Style and Structure, defined below
  • At least 2.5 MU credits at the 300-level or higher
  • In addition to the above, at least 0.5 MU credit at the 400-level
  • No more than 0.5 credit from the MU442–444 series courses may be applied toward the concentration

    The following courses are Exclusions and may not be applied toward a Music degree for students from the Metalworks pathway: MU161, MU121, MU251T.
