Research for Social Work Practice
0.5 Credit - Winter

Guided by critical reflexivity, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, decolonial and social justice principles, students will learn how 

to access, interpret, and critically evaluate social work research and other inter-disciplinary bodies of literature. Students will develop a beginning understanding of the role of research in social work practice, concepts of objectivity and subjectivity, and the political and ethical contexts surrounding study design, application, and impact. Topics will include social science research literacy; introduction to Euro-Western, Indigenous, and alternative research paradigms; evidence-based practices; program evaluation; and research ethics.
