Hours per week:
  • Lecture/Discussion: 2
  • Tutorial/Seminar: 1

The Public History Practicum is a third-year course designed to provide hands-on experience in the public history field. Students will engage in practical placements at heritage organizations, including but not limited to archives,
museums, galleries, cultural centers, and other historical institutions. Over the course of the semester, students will
apply theoretical knowledge from previous coursework to real-world settings, contributing to ongoing projects and
gaining valuable professional skills in research, curation, public engagement, and heritage preservation.

The course is primarily experiential, and students will be
supported in their placements through mentorship by both
their placement supervisors and the course instructor. In addition to the practicum, students will deliver a final
presentation and submit a reflection paper that critically evaluates their learning experiences and contributions.
