Degrowth: Alternative Development
0.5 Credit

Hours per week:
  • Lecture/Discussion: 3

The dominance of infinite economic growth in development policy and practice is critiqued through a focus on its social and ecological harm. Alternative development strategies to reduce energy and resource use, such as local collaboration and decision-making, sharing economies, resource redistribution, small-scale production, and promoting care, solidarity and autonomy, are proposed for social and ecological justice.
