Interpreting Research in Education

In this course, participants develop the capacity to be informed consumers of educational research. Students discuss and analyze research from quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods designs in order to make evidence-based decisions relating to the application of research to specific contexts. Students will consider ethics as it applies to research and complete the TCPS-2 certificate. Additionally, students develop and refine their scholarly writing and apply the basics of APA writing conventions (e.g., in-text citations, references) to their written assignments. Students intending to take EU597 will identify a research topic, develop research questions, identify relevant research literature that will inform their understanding of their research topic, and conduct a short literature review.
