Autism: Advocacy, Policy and Practice

This course provides both a practical and critical introduction to autism, a complex and increasingly prevalent neurodevelopmental condition. Topics include evidence-based approaches to diagnosis, therapy, and education; advocacy, policy, and politics; and the roles of various professionals and community organizations. Challenges and opportunities facing those with diverse needs across the autism spectrum, as well as implications for their caregivers, are critically assessed across the lifespan.
