Students will explore intersections of music and social justice, such as music performance for social justice, participatory music, and music and protest. Students will gain an understanding of key historical and contemporary issues related to music and power, with a focus on marginalized groups who have used music to fight oppression. The course will incorporate academic work with applied music practice.
