Research Supervision 1
0.5 Credit

The aim of the initial research supervision is to provide the student with the essential tools and resources to develop a research project with a research topic question (and sub-questions), rationale and objectives for project, employ appropriate method(s), and develop recruitment and other related materials. This project design serves as the beginning of a major research study that will culminate in the final dissertation. There is much flexibility, and the plan will require ongoing development, editing, and revising. Through a consultative process ongoing throughout Year 1, this is the beginning of the journey that results in the PhD student developing into an independent research scholar within the field. The faculty advisor provides assistance, support, guidance, and structure for the process. Students present their developing research ideas in the collaborative learning community (CLC) and in the DSSTs.
