Foundations of Mathematics for Teaching (Junior/Intermediate)

This introductory course examines current theory and practice related to mathematics education across the junior/intermediate grades (4 to 10), with a lens of equitable and inclusive teaching practices. The focus will be on building an initial understanding of social emotional learning, lesson planning, assessment, exploring the mathematics curriculum, and inclusive teaching pedagogy. This course will build mathematical knowledge through experiences in hands-on exploration of models for the learning trajectories of fundamental concepts relating to Number and Algebra to build an understanding of research-based teaching practices in mathematics
