Clinical Music Psychotherapy Skills II

Students learn to work within a clinical framework situated in music psychotherapy and develop music psychotherapy skills and clinical interventions feasible for a variety of clinical populations of different lifespans, with different diagnoses and from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Students learn about the balance between music and words in clinical improvisation with diverse client populations, and develop their music psychotherapeutic assessment skills. This course links directly with the concurrent MU504 - Music Therapy Placement I and music psychotherapeutic issues and interventions are critically analyzed in class. The course includes practical demonstrations and role-playing.
