This course provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to practice music therapy within medical settings. Students gain a broad understanding of contemporary practices in medical music therapy, while learning and practicing techniques for use in a variety of medical and rehabilitative contexts. Students also expand their understanding of the music therapist's role on the interdisciplinary healthcare team, specifically within hospitals. Theoretical connections to and distinctions from music-centred practices will be explored.
