This course is intended for both singers and pianists interested in collaborative work with singers. The fundamentals of lyric diction in the five languages most used by singers in the European Classical tradition—English, French, German, Italian and Latin—are covered, with a focus on applying these to the vocal repertoire through experiential learning. A study of the International Phonetic Alphabet and its application to singing in these languages will be included.†
