A continuation of MU162. MU266 introduces chromatic harmonies and their role in the Phrase Model including the Neapolitan chord, augmented sixth chords, chromatically-altered chords, and common-tone chords. The course explores modulation to closely-related, distant, and enharmonic keys. It also introduces chromatic sequences and chromatic contrary motion as well as binary forms. The course facilitates acquisition of active listening, audiation, harmonization, and analytical skills.
