A continuation of MU161. MU162 will introduce the Pre‐ Dominant function in non‐cadential contexts and its role in the Phrase Model, decorative and connective elements within the Phrase Model (embellishing tones and embellishing chords), harmonic sequences, applied dominants, and modulation. MU162 will introduce the essential theme types of Classical music, including the Period, Sentence and their Hybrid types. Examples will be drawn from a diverse range of composers and stylistic practices.
