An introduction to philosophy that will discuss its developments during the European Renaissance and 17th and 18th century Europe. Philosophers studied may include, but are not limited to, Montaigne, Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Astell, Masham, Cavendish, Conway, Elizabeth of Bohemia, Hume, Rousseau, du Châtelet, de Grouchy, and Kant. The rise of science, modernity, the Enlightenment, empiricism, rationalism, and idealism will be possible topics for discussion
