Contemporary Issues in International Trade
0.5 Credit

Hours per week:
  • Lecture/Discussion: 3

It is tempting to think that trade is simply an important commercial activity that provides product variety for consumers and prosperity for exporters. But, trade is politically salient and controversial. It is associated with job loss and worker dislocation. The central institution that governs trade internationally, the World Trade Organization, is in need of reform. And, it is increasingly important to explore the relationship between trade and other pressing issues, like climate change mitigation or the digital economy. These contemporary governance challenges form the basis of this course.
