Clinical Improvisation III: Compositional Applications in Music Psychotherapy

This course focuses on current music-centered thinking and theories within contemporary musical trends. Students' knowledge of the creative applications of clinical improvisation is expanded. Advanced idioms and classical compositional styles are explored. The impact of different musical styles on clinical work is addressed through the study of blues and jazz as well as world styles such as ragas and music from Asia. Students also begin the process of finding their own musical voice and improvisational style.
