Comprehensive Area Exam (CAE)

The Comprehensive Area Exam is the first of two Area Exams to be written by doctoral students in English and Film Studies in order to prepare them for specialization in teaching and research. The reading list for the Comprehensive Area Exam will comprise primarily canonical texts for a recognized teachable area, and will replace the Secondary Area Seminar (EN780) for students in the PhD in English and Film Studies program.
