Canadian Women's Literature
0.5 Credit

This course is designed to introduce graduate students to canonical and emerging works by women writers in Canada, with the aim of discussing the major movements and debates in 20th-century feminist writing. The ways in which these works of literature invite a rigorous revision of the narrative of nation and of the function of communities within the nation influence the modalities of canon formation and underscores canonicity as a political practice. Primary texts and critical material will engage the literary and cultural dynamics of identity politics and gender theory.
