OL 201 is a course that capitalizes on past work and personal experiences and helps to reframe them as opportunities for learning about leadership. This course provides an introduction to the academic leadership literature and will provide a framework and some introductory steps on how to use basic qualitative and quantitative methods to help prepare a professional narrative involving past leadership experiences. We will then discuss a number of academic leadership topics, including followership, conceptual blocks, communication skills, leading teams, conflict and leadership styles. Finally, the course will focus on the application of the academic leadership content to a professional narrative to integrate the academic information with firsthand experiences.
