This course explores aspects of the Canadian law required to achieve competency to enter the legal profession: knowledge, skills, and professionalism. In this course, students will learn about rights and ethical duties of Canadian lawyers towards clients, courts and the society. The course examines issues of the role of lawyers in Canadian society, regulation of lawyers, the lawyer-client relationship, conflict of interest, legal ethics in different areas of practice and access to justice.
