This course studies the greatest cities in world history. Students will learn about the politics, culture, and daily life in the metropolis within the wider context of national and global civilization. Cities will vary by instructor, but will focus on issues such as class conflict, municipal politics, architecture, city planning and urban renewal, criminality, culture, art, architecture and mass consumerism.
