Subversive Narratives in the Hispanic World

Taught in Spanish. This course will look into Hispanic narratives of the XIX, XX, and XXI centuries whose purpose was to defy the political, ideological, social and aesthetic status quo prevalent in the majority of Spanish-speaking countries. The course will explore texts with alleged universal implications produced not only within the field of literature, but also oratorical and journalistic pieces, proclamations, speeches, films by writers, intellectuals, political and social activists and leaders of the Hispanic world. Lectures will be combined with discussion sessions.††
