Contemporary Issues in Crime and Media

This course explores emerging research and theoretical issues in the intersection between Media Criminology. Students are exposed to current debates and research issues in the field from both a Canadian and international perspective. Course topics may include emerging theoretical perspectives, the role of media in the construction of popular ideas about crime, fear of crime and media, the presentation of disorder and deviance in the press; and the mediation of crime disputes through the media.
