Virginia Satir (1916-1988) was one of the founders of the family therapy movement, which stressed the importance of each therapist becoming as congruent and internally harmonious as possible. Satir's systemic therapy assumes the relevance of families of origin as basic to the current status quo in individuals, couples, families and communities — past, presentand future. This course focuses on Satir's concepts and uses experimental learning to provide opportunity for the student to absorb those parts of Satir's vision that are personally available.
