This course examines British society and culture from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. It explores how everyday children, women and men of various social groupings were affected by Britain’s changing race, class and gender structures, the rise of affluence and consumerism, the expansion of educational services, the two world wars, post-colonialism, poverty, and popular cultural developments.
