Examines the relationship of religion to society. Students investigate contemporary societies and cultures as influenced by regional, national and international geopolitics. Case studies consider the conditions under which religious texts are interpreted, and their impact on daily life. Connections are made between colonialism, poverty, militarization, fundamentalism and their representation in the media.
