Educational Leadership in International Contexts

In this course, students will consider how they can understand leadership on educational issues in diverse contexts. These leadership issues might relate to human rights, movement and migration, gender, language, (dis)ability, innovation, and socio-economic development amongst others. Students will consider leadership theories and competencies and how these are specifically understood within global educational contexts. Students will also consider large-scale and international efforts at sustainable educational development as well as national, regional, and local initiatives to support educational change and improvement. An international and comparative framework for examining and understanding leadership issues will be utilized throughout the course. An outcome of this course is that students will develop a commitment to improving education globally through targeted and localized initiatives in which they may participate.

- Registration Status: IES program (or permission of the co-ordinator). Satisfactory progression to Year 4.
