This course is designed to build background knowledge regarding the development of oral, reading, and writing development in second language or foreign language learning contexts. The course examines language acquisition theories and literacy development in the first and second languages as related to teaching children and youth. The course is designed to explore requisite knowledge and skills for students who plan to teach children and youth literacy in diverse global contexts.
