Our Health and Wellbeing

Learning to become a savvy and informed healthcare consumer starts with taking charge of your health. In this introductory course, students will be actively engaged to learn about their health and wellbeing through a variety of topics, that may include (but is not limited to): defining “health”; accessing and utilizing the Canadian healthcare system; models of healthcare delivery; social determinants of health; infectious diseases; the role of public health in the prevention, promotion and prevention of disease and illness; psychological and physical health; infectious diseases; weight management; substance use, misuse, and abuse; sexual health; chronic diseases; and, environmental health. An emphasis will be placed on changing your health behaviours for the better.

Prerequisites
Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 registration status in non-Kinesiology and non-Health Science programs.
Exclusions
KP231; HE100; HE101; HE301; registration in the BKin or Health Science program.
