This course explores current research about the structure and function of the brain as they apply to teaching. How learning occurs, how memories are created, and how to optimize both processes receive special emphasis. Students learn about different technologies for studying the brain. In addition, students examine behaviors and substances for their harmful or beneficial impacts on the brain, and investigate various brain disorders and their implications for learning. Finally, students critique instructional techniques reputed to be based on brain research and draw implications for education from brain research findings.
