Theologies of social, economic and political liberation have their roots in the ideas of religious leaders and the movements which followed them from the 16th century to the present. The impact of such figures and movements, as Thomas Muntzer, "The Levellers", Christian Democrats, Christian Marxists, and Martin Luther King, shall be analyzed with respect to social and political theology today.
