Medical Music Psychotherapy

This course introduces music psychotherapy theories through the investigation of diverse client populations, treatment models and clinical orientations within a medical context, i.e., ABI, stroke, aphasia, cancer, and pain. The foundations of neuroscience are introduced, as well as the medical music psychotherapy practices, interventions, and clinical assessments to meet medical patients' rehabilitative and psychosocial needs. Contemporary theories and psychotherapy approaches are explored and integrated through case studies and practical demonstration.
