This course focuses on current and classic research in financial accounting with particular emphasis on the role of accounting information in capital markets. Topics include valuation theory, studies of the usefulness and value-relevance of accounting information to security market participants, use of the security returns as a tool for validating accounting procedures, earnings management, and analysts' behavior.
