CQ625
Ethics, Affect and Embodiment
0.5 Credit

This course explores the transdisciplinary turn to critical affect studies, especially in terms of how it allows us to reconceptualize embodied subjectivities and ethical relationships. Organized around an examination of significant epistemological and methodological implications of the affective turn as it challenges traditional models of inquiry that separate mind from body and reason from emotion, the course is situated within the fields of body/embodiment studies and contemporary poststructuralist ethics. The course thus provides a multidisciplinary introduction to affect theory, examples of its application in a number of fields and opportunities for class members to pursue their specific research interests in relationship to the course material.
