A study of novels and other texts from the 1960s to the beginning of the 21st century that interrogate "truths" or grand narratives of Western culture through such devices as parody, irony, self-conscious narration, and intertextuality. Readings from influential theorists and critics, such as Jameson, Huyssen, Hutcheon, Lyotard, and others will be studied along with the texts.
